What if I am renting a room in an apartment or home?

That’s fine as long as the home owner or property management company of your apartment building or home will verify your rent payments. We cannot verify with the person you are subleasing from if you are in a sublease. Due to rules and regulations set by the Credit Bureau, we do have to speak with the property owner or property management company.

We can still verify your rental history if you are renting a room in an apartment complex from a property management company. Keep in mind, we will need to speak to the property management company in order to verify your rent. They will need to know you are living there and you might need to be on the lease for us to verify. Sometimes, if you are not a lease holder, we can only do a one-time verification for you as an occupant. Read more about the property management company process here.

I am renting a room from a family member, how does that work?

We verify with family members all the time! We just need to ensure that we are verifying with the property owner. If your family member you are renting from is not the owner, then we will need to contact the correct person who owns the property.
