What if I am in a sublease?
That’s fine as long as the owner or property management company of your apartment building will verify your rent payments. We cannot verify with the person you are subleasing from. Due to rules and regulations set by the Credit Bureau, we do have to speak with the property owners or property management company.
I am subleasing from an independent landlord, how does that work?
We can still verify your rental history if you are subleasing from an independent landlord. Keep in mind, we will need to speak to the property owner in order to verify your rent. Read more about the Landlord Process here.
I am subleasing from a property management company, how does that work?
We can still verify your rental history if you are subleasing from a property manager. Keep in mind, we will need to speak to the property manager in order to verify your rent. They will need to know you are living there and in a sublease, for us to verify. Sometimes, if you are not a lease holder, we can only do a one-time verification for you as an occupant. What if I am renting a room?
We can still verify if you are renting a room! The process is the same as if you are renting from an independent landlord or property management company. We will need to speak to the owner or the property management company directly to verify your rent.
What if Rental Kharma cannot verify my sublease?
If we are unable to verify your information because of an illegal sublease where the landlord or property manager does not know you are living in the rental, we do withhold a $25 processing fee per our Cancellation Policy and Refund Policy.
